IT related Work Experience

7/18/2008 - Present. Professional Service Consultant - Dell Inc. Lead senior consultant for enterprise network assessments, designs and implementation projects. These projects included project management, readiness assessments, designs, migrations, best practice guidelines, trouble shooting and implementations.

4/2/2008 – 7/18/2008. Senior Technical Engineer – nfrastructure technologies. Provide technical and project management lead at New York State Office for Technology’s Microsoft Email infrastructure. This includes migration of state agencies to Exchange 2003, Exchange 2007, Unified messaging and Blackberry services.

11/18/2005 – 3/14/2008. Director of Service Operations - Distributed Applications Technologies. My primary function – hands on technical engineering and administration whereby I provide leadership for data center design, installation and administration. This includes design and implementations for the startup technology Hosting Company and full service Consulting firm. Secondary duties include management for help desk personnel, Engineers, consultants, Change Management policies and procedures, Pre and Post sales support, Proposal writing, Customer Budget analysis, and Customer relations. Technologies include Microsoft Windows 2003, Active Directory, Exchange 2003/2007, Citrix, Terminal Server, Vmware, Clustering, Provision Networks, EMC Storage, VB/Powershell Scripting, IIS6, MS SQL 200x, Monitoring, Security, Barracuda Spam filter, Cisco ASA’s, Pix firewalls, and layer 2 and layer 3 switching.

7/18/2008. Adjunct Instructor. ITT Technical Institute. This position consists of teaching credited network and related classes for students in an Information Technology or Electronics curriculum. This is part time, evenings.

Senior Technical Engineer – SWN Communications. Lead senior Engineer for data center setup and installation. This includes designing and implementation for a startup technology company.  I was chosen by SWN Communications, Inc. (parent of www.SendWordNow.com) to lead the technical build out of a notification management service designed to save call-to-action time in critical situations. The fault tolerant, highly available technology ensures that key contacts can send and receive messages via any number of communication devices within minutes. Technologies included Back Up Exec, MS Clustering, Geo Clustering, MS SQL, VoIP, MS IIS, Scripting, Cisco, Load Balancing, Disaster recovery, Exchange, SMTP, RPC/HTTPS, SSL, Security, and much more.


3/31/2003 – 2/11/2005
Technical Practice Manager – Collective Technologies. Lead senior consultant for enterprise network assessments, designs and implementation projects, usually representing Dell or EMC Professional Services. These projects included project management, readiness assessments, designs, migrations, best practice guidelines, trouble shooting and implementations. Experience includes hands on work with Active Directory, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 200X server, Exchange 5.5/2000/2003, Citrix, Dell Openmanage, MS-Clustering, MS-SQL, CLARiiON solutions, and many others. This position also includes management duties that include mentoring, interviewing potential members, scoping calls, proposal writing, team leadership, business development, services development, resource management, etc.

1/30/2003 – 3/30/2003 Independent technical systems analysis/engineer and technical trainer. From this position I worked as a contractor for projects such as Microsoft and Citrix administration, migrations and analysis for medium and large network projects. I also work as a technical trainer for academic and corporate environments. 
 
7/6/2001 – 1/30/2003 
Project Lead/Senior Network Engineer - Siemens Business Services Inc. Project lead for 7+/- network engineers supporting a 1800 server, 60,000 user environment (Including 40 Citrix Servers), planning and implementing the migration to Windows 2000 AD and Metaframe XP.  This included Windows NT 4.0 & Windows 2000, NT clusters [4.0 & 2000], Project management, Active Directory, Windows 2000 upgrades, NetIQ consolidations, Citrix XP migration, server consolidation and normal day-to-day administrative work. Clients included General Electric and Cigna Insurance.

 

7/31/2000 – 6/13/2001 NT/Citrix Administrator - New York State Police, 1220 Washington Ave, Albany, NY 12226. Administration includes set up, installation and maintenance of The NT/Citrix network. The network includes approximately 4000 users, 12 Citrix servers, 14 Application servers, and IIS intranet servers. Charged with the responsibility of 4+/- administrative assistance and full time consultant and the day-to-day administration of the server environment. Responsible for the long term planning for budgetary purposes, training, resource requirements, upgrade requirements, etc.

 

1/25/1999 - 7/28/2000 NT/Citrix Administrator - Integrated Partners, Inc., 99 Pine Street, Albany, NY. Primary Windows NT 4.0 Administrator supporting more than 40 Windows NT 4.0 servers for the New York State Police.  Networking lead for 4 network technicians whose duties include the responsibility for the Windows NT 4.0 & Citrix Network. This position included upgrading and installing hardware and software for the implementation of their WAN. Performed installations and troubleshooting in a 95/98, Windows NT, Citrix and Novell environments. Other duties include creating and maintaining portions of their intranet web site, second and third level help desk support, upgrades and application testing, systems engineering, and documentation and proposal writing.

 

8/9/1999 - 1/7/2000 MCSE Trainer - Data Train Institute, 309 Fifth Avenue, Room 300-1, New York, New York 10016-6509. I taught MCSE classes at Hudson Valley Community College.

11/23/1998   - 1/18/1999 Network Technician - Atlantic Network Systems, 1873 Western Avenue, Albany, NY. Upgraded computers on a State network.  Responsibilities where; Windows 95 installs, data transfers, ghosting of hard drives and remote access setup.

8/1998 - 11/20/1998 Network Technician - Manpower Technical, 143 State Street, Schenectady, NY. Responsible for network installs and upgrades, PC, laptop and printer installations and troubleshooting.  Projects included: IRS, Albany and Plattsburg - Network upgrade, St. Peters Hospital - Network upgrade, Albany Medical Center - Second level Help desk. Entex for Mutual of New York - Nationwide network upgrade and restructure.
